traditional cake from North Sumatra
250g ketan (glutinous rice flour)
250ml coconut milk
1/2 tsp salt
100g palm sugar
25 g white sesame seeds
25g toasted sesame seeds
Heat the coconut milk and mix gently with the ketan and salt and form a smooth dough. Mix the palm sugar and sesame. Take some of the dough and press it flat. Put some sugar on the dough and shape the dough into a small ball. Sprinkle with white sesame.
Take a steamer and cover it with banana leaves and pandan leaf. Put the balls in and steam them for 15 minutes until cooked. Open the steamer every 3 minutes remove the fumes.
