Yam Neua Yaang
a spicy Thai beef salad

250 gr beef
7 red rawits
3 shallots
2 cloves garlic
1 bunch coriander
2 tsp asem (tamarind juice)
2 tsp palmsugar
2 tsp fishsauce (nam pla)

ingredients marinade:
2 tbsp kecap manis (sweet dark soy sauce)
1,5 tbsp palmsugar

lettuce leaves
cucummer slices

Mix the kecap with the palmsugar and marinate the meat with it for at least 40 minutes. Roast the rawits dry in a skillet and pound or grind the rawits fine. Cut the shallots into thin slices and the garlic fine. Chop the coriander coarse.
Grill or roast the beef above a charcoalfire brown but keep it rose/rare. Cut the beef into thin slices. Mix the rawits, the shallots, the garlic, the coriander, the asem, the palmsugar and the fish sauce and spoon the with trough it. Serve the meat on the lettuce leaves and garnish it with the cucumeber.
