pork chops in special sauce 

500g pork chops 
3 star anise 
2 cinnamon sticks 
2 shallots 
4 cloves of garlic 
1 tsp salt 
2 tbsp kecap asin 
1/2 tsp palm sugar 
1/2 tsp kecap manis 
1 tbsp cornflour 
2 tablespoons water 
Chop the shallots and garlic. Mix this with the star anise, cinnamon, salt, the kecaps and the sugar . Marinate the meat with at least 4 hours. 
Put the meat with the marinade in a saucepan and add water until the meat is just covered. Cook it slowly until the liquid has reduced by half. 
Mix the cornstarch with the water. Remove the meat from the pan and add the cornstarch, and cook for a minute until the sauce has thickened. Pour the sauce over the meat and serve.
