Daging Asam
beef in a spicy and tangy sauce

1000 gr beef
5 tbsp oil
6 cloves garlic
10 shallots
1/2 nutmeg
3 cm cinnamon
3 cardamon pods
3 cloves
1000 ml santen
250 gr potatoes
1 tsp asem (tamarind)
5 belimbing (carambola)

1 tsp ketumbar (coriander)
1/2 tsp jinten (cumin)
1/2 tsp aniseed
1/2 tsp pepper
salt to taste

Cara membuat:
Cut the meat into cubes. Slice the garlic and the shallits fine and the belimbing into small pieces. Peel the potatoes and cut these into small cubes. Pound or grind the ingredients for the bumbu fine into a paste.
Mix the bumbu with the meat and let it marinate for at least 45 minutes. Heat in a wok the oil and fry the garlic golden brown. Add the shallots and fry it for 3 minutes.
Then add the meat, the nutmeg, the cinnamon, the cloves and the cardamon and fry it for 3 minutes. Add the santen and let it cook slowly until the meat is half done. Add the potatoes, the asem and the belimbing and let it cook slowly until all ingredients are cooked and the sauce has thickened.
