Lauak/lawak Gadang 
spicy stewed slices of beef

250 gr beef
550ml water
1 tsp salt
1 tsp palm sugar
1 serai/sereh/lemon grass, white part
1 kunyit leaf
2 asam kandis
3 jeruk purut leaves
5 tbsp oil

9 shallots
4 cloves of garlic
10 red cabai keriting (curly cayenne pepper)
2 kemiri/candlenuts, roasted
2 cm kunyit, toasted
1 cm jahe/ginger
1 cm lengkuas/laos/galangal
1/2 tsp salt

Cara membuat:
Cut the meat into 4x4x1 cm slices. Pound or grind the ingredients for the bumbu into a paste.
Heat the oil in a pan and fry the bumbu together with the serai, the kunyit leaf, the asam kandis and the jeruk purut for 6 minutes.
Then add the meat and fry until it changes color. Then add the water, palm sugar and salt and cook until done. Serve.
