Black beef soup from Blora (central Java)

400g beef (breastplate)
2 salam leaves
2 cm jahe
2 cm laos
1 tbsp salt
2 tsp palm sugar
500 ml santen asli (thick coconut milk)
1000 ml santen cair (thin coconut milk)
50 gr melinjo leaf
1 tsp asamwater
2 tbsp oil

4 keluak / kluwek
4 cloves of garlic
7 shallots
4 kemiri/candle nuts
2 cm kunyit

Cara Membuat:
Cut the meat into pieces of 2x3cm and grate the laos. Pound or grind the ingredients for the bumbu into a paste.
Heat in a pan the oil and fry the bumbu with the salam, the jahe and the laos for 4 minutes. Add the meat and fry until brown. Then add the santen cair bit by bit along with salt and palm sugar and cook until the meat is nearly done. Then add the santen asli and bring to the boil. Then add the melinjo leaves and the asamwater and simmer for a further 5 minutes.
