ham and winter melon soup

1/3 pound Chinese ham
1 disc winter melon
2 slices ginger
500cc broth
1/2 teaspoon salt
pepper to taste
Steam the ham until it is cooked, cool and cut into slices. Remove the skin of the melon and cut into thick slices, remove the pulp and seeds. Cut the ginger into small pieces. Heat in a wok the stock and bring to the boil . Add the ham and melon. Sprinkle with ginger and cook for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with salt and season with pepper, serve.
