Sambal (Goreng) Gadang
beef with potatoes in a spicy sauce


1000 gr beef
500 gr potatoes
1 onion
2 limes (juice)
750 ml water
2 tbsp oil


3 red lomboks
3 cm kunyit (curcuma)
1 tbsp paprika powder
6 cloves garlic
1 tsp trasi (shrimp paste)

slices cucumber
juliene rawits
juliene carrot

Cara membuat:

Cut the meat and the potatoes into cubes and the onion into thin slices. Pound or grind the ingredients for the bumbu fine into a paste.
Heat in a wok the oil and fry the beef brown. Add the bumbu, the water, the lime juice and the potatoes and let it simmer slowly until the beef is done and the water has nearly evaporated. Garnish it with the cucumber, the rawits or the carrot and serve.
